Setia Mengikuti Perintah

Mazmur 119:1-16

Setiap orang percaya dituntut untuk setia mengikuti perintah Allah, ketetapan dan firman-Nya, sebagai pedoman hidup. Dengan melakukan hal itu, sesungguhnya kita telah memuliakan Allah.

Dalam mazmur ini, kita melihat adanya sikap ketaatan dan kesetiaan untuk mengikuti perintah Allah (1-2). Taat dan setia merupakan sikap iman seseorang dalam menghayati dan melakukan kehendak Allah agar ia terhindar dari kejahatan dan perilaku yang cela. Allah sendiri telah menunjukkan titah-Nya dengan tujuan agar ketetapan-Nya itu dipegang dengan sepenuh hati sebagai perintah yang harus diikuti dengan tekun dan setia. Sebab Ia mengatakan, "Berbahagialah orang yang setia melakukan kehendak-Nya dan bersyukur karena setia belajar hukum-hukum-Nya yang adil" (3-7).

Pemazmur juga berseru agar Allah tidak meninggalkannya. Sebab ia mau belajar taat dan setia dengan belajar melakukan ketetapan Allah. Pemazmur menyadari bahwa ketetapan Allah itu sulit dipahami dan dilakukan. Karena itu, ia membutuhkan tuntunan Tuhan untuk mengarahkan hidupnya secara benar. Hanya dengan cara itu, ia bisa setia, tidak mudah kehilangan harapan, mampu menjaga kemurnian hidup, dan selalu mengingat berbagai janji Tuhan sebagai kekuatannya (8-11). Semuanya itu menolong pemazmur bisa menjaga perilakunya yang bersih, tidak berdosa terhadap Allah, dan tidak menyimpang dari perintah-Nya.

Karena itu, pemazmur menaikkan pujian kepada Allah. Dengan kesungguhan hati, ia memohon Tuhan mau mendidiknya sehingga ia dapat menceritakan segala kebesaran dan kedahsyatan hukum Allah. Melalui bimbingan dan teguran Allah semakin membuat pemazmur beria-ria seolah-olah ia telah mendapatkan harta yang tidak ternilai harganya. Hal itu yang membuat pemazmur senantiasa merenungkan firman Allah sebagai makanan rohaninya. Segala perenungan atas kebenaran Allah itu disimpannya dalam hati (12-16).

Firman Allah sepatutnya menjadi inspirator kita untuk melakukan ketetapan-Nya. Karena itu, kita harus bersyukur dan memuliakan Allah. [BW]
