Dua Belas Jam Untuk Berkarya

Baca: Yohanes 11:1-11

"Bukankah ada dua belas jam dalam satu hari? Siapa yang berjalan pada siang hari, kakinya tidak terantuk, karena ia melihat terang dunia ini." (Yohanes 11:9)

Ketika Lazarus sedang sakit, Yesus berkehendak menengoknya dan kembali ke Yudea. Akan tetapi murid-murid-Nya berusaha melarang-Nya sebab mereka kuatir orang-orang Yudea akan membunuh-Nya. Tetapi perhatikan jawaban Yesus kepada mereka, "Bukankah ada dua belas jam dalam satu hari? Siapa yang berjalan pada siang hari, kakinya tidak terantuk, karena ia melihat terang dunia ini." (ayat nas).

Apa maksud perkataan Tuhan Yesus ini? Tuhan hendak mengatakan bahwa selagi ada kesempatan, jangan pernah sia-siakan; dua belas jam dalam satu hari (siang hari) adalah waktu untuk bekerja dan berkarya, sebab "...akan datang malam, di mana tidak ada seorangpun yang dapat bekerja." (Yohanes 9:4).

Setiap orang mempunyai waktu "12 jam" dengan satu tanggung jawab masing-masing. Dua belas jam pada siang hari adalah waktu yang tepat bagi kita menyelesaikan tugas-tugas dari Tuhan, waktu bagi kita untuk turut berlomba dalam pertandingan iman. Karena itu mari kita pergunakan setiap kesempatan sebaik mungkin, dan berjuang begitu rupa, jangan sampai kita kedapatan "tidur" secara rohani. "Karena itu, perhatikanlah dengan saksama, bagaimana kamu hidup, janganlah seperti orang bebal, tetapi seperti orang arif, dan pergunakanlah waktu yang ada, karena hari-hari ini adalah jahat. Sebab itu janganlah kamu bodoh, tetapi usahakanlah supaya kamu mengerti kehendak Tuhan. Dan janganlah kamu mabuk oleh anggur, karena anggur menimbulkan hawa nafsu, tetapi hendaklah kamu penuh dengan Roh," (Efesus 5:15-18).

Yesus berkata, "Lazarus, saudara kita, telah tertidur, tetapi Aku pergi ke sana untuk membangunkan dia dari tidurnya." (Yohanes 11:11). Berbeda dengan orang fasik: "Berfoya-foya pada siang hari, mereka anggap kenikmatan." (2 Petrus 2:13) dan berjalan dalam gelap adalah kesukaan mereka, tetapi "...kamu semua adalah anak-anak terang dan anak-anak siang. Kita bukanlah orang-orang malam atau orang-orang kegelapan." (1 Tesalonika 5:5).

Selagi sehat dan masih "siang" marilah giat bekerja untuk Tuhan!
