Takut Akan Tuhan : Kunci Kepercayaan Diri

Baca: Amsal 14:26-35

"Dalam takut akan TUHAN ada ketenteraman yang besar, bahkan ada perlindungan bagi anak-anak-Nya." (Amsal 14:26)

Di era seperti sekarang ini memiliki rasa percaya diri sangat diperlukan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, terlebih dalam dunia kerja atau bisnis. Seorang pelamar kerja harus memiliki rasa percaya diri ketika menjalani sesi wawancara karena hal ini merupakan bagian dari penilaian. Ketika melakukan peresentasi di depan banyak orang seseorang harus punya rasa percaya diri yang tinggi, jika tidak, ia akan tampak gugup atau nervous.

Begitu pula ketika dihadapkan pada situasi-situasi sulit atau kritis yang membutuhkan sebuah keputusan tegas, sikap percaya diri kepada kemampuan sangat menentukan. Karena itulah di mana-mana banyak digelar seminar motivasi yang dipandu motivator handal. Konsep percaya diri yang diajarkan dunia cenderung membawa seseorang yang mengandalkan kepintaran, kekuatan dan kemampuan diri sendiri yang akhirnya mencondongkannya menjadi sombong alias memegahkan diri sendiri. 

Dalam terjemahan English Amplified Bible, kalimat "ketentraman besar" adalah strong confidence, berarti rasa percaya diri yang besar atau keyakinan yang kokoh. Sikap ini timbul sebagai akibat takut akan Tuhan, bukan mengandalkan kekuatan dan kemampuan sendiri, kekayaan atau jabatan, tetapi karena memiliki penyerahan hidup secara penuh kepada Tuhan dan mengandalkan Dia.

"Celakalah orang-orang yang pergi ke Mesir minta pertolongan, yang mengandalkan kuda-kuda, yang percaya kepada keretanya yang begitu banyak, dan kepada pasukan berkuda yang begitu besar jumlahnya, tetapi tidak memandang kepada Yang Mahakudus, Allah Israel, dan tidak mencari TUHAN. Sebab orang Mesir adalah manusia, bukan allah, dan kuda-kuda mereka adalah makhluk yang lemah, bukan roh yang berkuasa. Apabila TUHAN mengacungkan tangan-Nya, tergelincirlah yang membantu dan jatuhlah yang dibantu, dan mereka sekaliannya habis binasa bersama-sama." (Yesaya 31:1, 3).

Kunci percaya diri bagi kita adalah takut akan Tuhan, dan Tuhan senantiasa akan menyertai hidup orang yang takut kepada-Nya.

"Orang ini memegahkan kereta dan orang itu memegahkan kuda, tetapi kita bermegah dalam nama TUHAN, Allah kita." (Mazmur 20:8)
