Alasan Mengucapkan Syukur (2)

Baca: Mazmur 66:1-20

"mazmurkanlah kemuliaan nama-Nya, muliakanlah Dia dengan puji-pujian!" (Mazmur 66:2)

Ada banyak orang Kristen yang sulit sekali mengucap syukur kepada Tuhan, hanya karena kecewa doanya tidak dijawab atau belum beroleh jawaban dari Tuhan. Lalu kita melakukan aksi mogok dan marah kepada Tuhan. Maunya sekali berdoa, apa yang kita perlukan atau minta kepada Tuhan langsung dikabulkan. Kita memaksakan kehendak kita. Kita ingin Tuhan mengikuti agenda dan waktu kita dan tidak mau bersabar menunggu waktu-Nya, padahal "Ia membuat segala sesuatu indah pada waktunya," (Pengkhotbah 3:11). Alkitab mengingatkan agar kita senantiasa berdoa dengan tidak jemu-jemu, berdoa dengan tiada berkeputusan. "Tidakkah Allah akan membenarkan orang-orang pilihan-Nya yang siang malam berseru kepada-Nya? Dan adakah Ia mengulur-ulur waktu sebelum menolong mereka?" (Lukas 18:7).

Ada alasan lain mengapa harus mengucap syukur: Tuhan telah memilih kita dan menjadikan kita berharga di mata-Nya. "Berbahagialah orang yang Engkau pilih dan yang Engkau suruh mendekat untuk diam di pelataran-Mu!" (Mazmur 65:5a). Kita dipilih Tuhan di antara sekian miliar manusia di muka bumi ini, artinya kita adalah orang-orang yang sangat spesial dan berharga di mata Tuhan. "Oleh karena engkau berharga di mata-Ku dan mulia, dan Aku ini mengasihi engkau," (Yesaya 43:4). Jadi bukan kita yang memilih Tuhan, tapi Tuhan sendiri yang telah memilih kita. "Bukan kamu yang memilih Aku, tetapi Akulah yang memilih kamu." (Yohanes 15:16).

Kita pun patut bersyukur kepada Tuhan karena kebaikan-Nya melimpah atas kita. "Kiranya kami menjadi kenyang dengan segala yang baik di rumah-Mu, di bait-Mu yang kudus." (Mazmur 65:5b). Siapakah di antara kita yang tidak pernah merasakan kasih, kemurahan dan kebaikan Tuhan? Sungguh keterlaluan jika kita melupakan kebaikan Tuhan. Jika demikian kita benar-benar tidak tahu berterima kasih. Ucapan syukur inilah yang akan memberikan kita kekuatan untuk terus memandang Tuhan dan melihat kebaikan-Nya. "...janganlah lupakan segala kebaikan-Nya!" (Mazmur 103:2).

"Bersyukurlah kepada TUHAN, sebab Ia baik! Bahwasanya untuk selama-lamanya kasih setia-Nya." (Mazmur 136:1)
