Pilihan Ada Pada Manusia Sendiri

Baca: Wahyu 3:14-22

"Lihat, Aku berdiri di muka pintu dan mengetok; jikalau ada orang yang mendengar suara-Ku dan membukakan pintu, Aku akan masuk mendapatkannya dan Aku makan bersama-sama dengan dia, dan ia bersama-sama dengan Aku." (Wahyu 3:20)

Orang bertanya-tanya, jika Tuhan itu berkuasa mengapa Dia seolah-olah membiarkan sakit-penyakit dan kesusahan menimpa semua orang? Mengapa Ia tidak langsung menyembuhkan atau memberkati? Tentu saja Tuhan itu Mahakuasa, tetapi Dia hanya akan mengerjakan sesuatu dalam diri seseorang ketika orang itu mengijinkan Dia bekerja. Ada orang yang berbantah lagi, "Kalau Tuhan berkuasa, tentunya Ia dapat melakukan segala sesuatu menurut kehendak-Nya sendiri!" Dalam sekejap mata Tuhan pasti sanggup untuk menyembuhkan, memberkati, menolong dan menyelamatkan setiap orang yang berdosa tanpa melalui proses pertobatan.

Tuhan tak ingin manusia ciptaan-Nya itu seperti robot yang dapat dijadikan apa saja. Sesungguhnya Tuhan dapat saja memaksa setiap orang untuk bertobat dan menerima-Nya sebagai Juruselamat dalam hidupnya. Tetapi Tuhan memberikan kepada setiap manusia free will (kehendak bebas), sehingga manusia mempunyai hak untuk menentukan pilihannya sendiri. Manusia dapat memilih untuk menerima Kristus sebagai Tuhan dan Juruselamat dalam hidupnya, atau sebaliknya mereka melakukan seperti orang dunia lakukan saat ini yaitu membenci, menghujat dan menolak Yesus Kristus.

Tuhan Yesus hanya berdiri di depan pintu hati setiap orang dan mengetuk. Jika kita mendengar suara-Nya dan membukakan pintu hati bagi-Nya, Dia kan masuk ke dalam kehidupan kita. Jadi Tuhan tak pernah memaksa kita, walaupun sesungguhnya Ia begitu ingin semua orang mendapatkan keselamatan kekal melalui iman percaya kepada-Nya, "...tetapi Ia sabar terhadap kamu, karena Ia menghendaki supaya jangan ada yang binasa, melainkan supaya semua orang berbalik dan bertobat." (2 Petrus 3:9).

Bahkan setelah seseorang bertobat dan lahir baru ia juga tak kehilangan kehendak bebasnya untuk memilih taat kepada firman atau tidak taat. Yang harus disadari adalah, bahwa "...ketidaktaatan mendapat balasan yang setimpal," (Ibrani 2:2), sebaliknya kalau kita mau taat maka berkatlah yang menjadi bagian hidup kita.

"...barangsiapa yang benar, biarlah ia terus berbuat kebenaran;" (Wahyu 22:11)
