Hidup Kita Di Batasi Waktu

Baca: Pengkhotbah 3:1-15

"Untuk segala sesuatu ada masanya, untuk apapun di bawah langit ada waktunya." (Pengkhotbah 3:1)

Sehebat atau sepintar apa pun manusia tidak dapat melawan atau menahan lajunya waktu. Apa pun yang terjadi, waktu akan terus berjalan tanpa mempedulikan sikap kita terhadapnya. Semua yang ada di dunia ini dan lamanya kita berada di dunia ini juga dibatasi oleh waktu. Jadi, "Untuk segala sesuatu ada masanya,". Dan selama kita masih hidup di dunia ini kita akan terus berpacu dengan waktu.

Semakin seseorang sadar pentingnya waktu akan semakin cermat pula ia merencanakan hidupnya. Dengan kata lain, kesadaran seseorang terhadap waktu akan mempengaruhi tingkat produktivitasnya dan kesungguhannya dalam memanfaatkan waktu. Itulah sebabnya ada nasihat mengatakan: bekerjalah begitu rupa seolah-olah engkau akan hidup seribu tahu lagi dan beribadahlah dengan sungguh-sungguh seolah-olah engkau akan meninggal esok hari. Artinya waktu sangat berharga, jangan menyia-nyiakannya, tetapi gunakanlah sebaik mungkin dengan seimbang yaitu bekerja dan beribadah.

Begitu jatah waktu yang diberikan Tuhan kepada kita habis, usai sudah waktu kita bekerja dan berjerih lelah di dunia ini. Bukan berarti semuanya tamat, justu itulah babak baru dimulai, di mana tiap-tiap pekerjaan yang kita lakukan di dunia akan diuji Tuhan dengan api. Alkitab menulis, "Entahkah orang membangun di atas dasar ini dengan emas, perak, batu permata, kayu, rumput kering atau jerami, sekali kelak pekerjaan masing-masing orang akan nampak. Karena hari Tuhan akan menyatakannya, sebab ia akan nampak dengan api dan bagaimana pekerjaan masing-masing orang akan diuji oleh api itu. ika pekerjaan yang dibangun seseorang tahan uji, ia akan mendapat upah. Jika pekerjaannya terbakar, ia akan menderita kerugian, tetapi ia sendiri akan diselamatkan, tetapi seperti dari dalam api." (1 Korintus 3:12-15). Artinya jika selama di dunia kita mengisi waktu dengan perkara sia-sia, ibarat membangun rumah dari rumput kering atau jerami, maka dalam sekejap semuanya akan habis terbakar. Sebelum segala sesuatunya terlmbat, segeralah membuat pilihan hidup yang benar.

Ingat! 'Waktu' terus berputan dan kita tidak dapat menghentikannya, apalagi memutarnya kembali. Itulah keterbatasan kita!
