Kasih Sejati Di Sertai Perbuatan

Baca: Yohanes 13:31-35

"Aku memberikan perintah baru kepada kamu, yaitu supaya kamu saling mengasihi; sama seperti Aku telah mengasihi kamu demikian pula kamu harus saling mengasihi." (Yohanes 13:34)

Begitu pentingkah kasih bagi orang percaya, sehingga tak henti-hentinya kita perlu dan selalu diingatkan perihal kasih ini? Yesus memberikan perintah agar kita saling mengasihi seperti Dia yang telah lebih dulu mengasihi kita. Namun banyak orang berkata, "Aku akan mengasihi kamu jika kamu mengasihiku." Itulah prinsip kasih dunia: pengorbanan yang bersyarat. Kasih semacam itu bukanlah kasih sejati: "Dan jikalau kamu mengasihi orang yang mengasihi kamu, apakah jasamu? Karena orang-orang berdosapun mengasihi juga orang-orang yang mengasihi mereka. Sebab jikalau kamu berbuat baik kepada orang yang berbuat baik kepada kamu, apakah jasamu? Orang-orang berdosapun berbuat demikian." (Lukas 6:32-33).

Kasih pada hakekatnya adalah untuk diberikan. Kita tidak dapat mengasihi tanpa memberi atau berbuat sesuatu. Allah telah memberiktan bukti nyata bagaimana Dia mengasihi kita. "Inilah kasih itu: Bukan kita yang telah mengasihi Allah, tetapi Allah yang telah mengasihi kita dan yang telah mengutus Anak-Nya sebagai pendamaian bagi dosa-dosa kita. Saudara-saudaraku yang kekasih, jikalau Allah sedemikian mengasihi kita, maka haruslah kita juga saling mengasihi." (1 Yohanes 4:10-11). Ini menunjukkan bukan kita yang mengasihi Allah, namun Allah yang telah mengasihi kita. Bukti lain bahwa Allah sangat mengasihi manusia ialah telah diciptakanNya terlebih dahulu dunia ini dan segala isinya: terang, gelap, cakrawala, langit, bumi, binatang, tumbuhan, barulah Dia menciptakan manusia, sehingga manusia dapat menggunakan dan menikmati segala fasilitas yang disediakanNya.

Jadi kasih itu dari Allah kepada manusia. Artinya kita menerima kasihNya terlebih dahulu baru kemudian kita mengasihi, Allah sebagai pemberi dan kita adalah penerima; inilah prinsip utama kasih. Jadi kekristenan adalah kasih. Semua aktivitas rohani yang kita lakukan harus berpusatkan pada kasih. Tanpa kasih semuanya sia-sia!

Seperti kata Paulus, "...jika aku tidak mempunyai kasih, aku sama sekali tidak berguna...sedikitpun tidak ada faedahnya bagiku" (baca 1 Korintus 13:1-3)
