Bukan Siapa-Siapa Di Mata Manusia

"Samgar bin Anat; ia menewaskan orang Filistin dengan tongkat penghalau lembu, enam ratus orang banyaknya." (Hakim-Hakim 3:31)

Kebanyakan orang berpikir bahwa Tuhan hanya akan memakai orang-orang yang di pandangan manusia memiliki banyak kelebihan: cerdas, pintar, kaya, cantik, tampan atau punya sesuatu yang dibanggakan di hadapan sesamanya. Tuhan tidak pernah memperhatikan apa pun yang tampak hebat secara kasat mata! Yang Tuhan perhatikan dan perhitungkan adalah respons hati seseorang ketika menerima panggilan Tuhan. "Sifat yang diinginkan pada seseorang ialah kesetiaannya;" (Amsal 19:22). Apalah artinya seseorang tampak hebat di mata manusia, atau punya multi talenta, jika ia sendiri tidak mau mengembangkan potensi yang ada dengan penuh kesetiaan.

Samgar adalah orang sederhana yang hanya berprofesi sebagai peternak atau petani, suatu profesi yang dipandang remeh, sepele dan sangat tidak diperhitungkan oleh manusia, namun justru dipilih Tuhan untuk melakukan perkara yang luar biasa. Karena namanya hanya disebut sebanyak 2 kali di Alkitab, tidaklah mengherankan jika nama Samgar masih terdengar asing di telinga, padahal ia adalah salah satu tokoh hebat di Israel. Ia hidup pada masa setelah Ehud sukses menundukkan bangsa Moab (sehingga bangsa Israel menjadi aman selama 80 tahun). Kalahnya bangsa Moab tidak membuat bangsa Israel terbebas dari musuh sepenuhnya, karena ada banyak musuh yang sewaktu-waktu bisa datang, salah satunya adalah bangsa Filistin. Di tengah ancaman bangsa Filistin ini tampillah Samgar sebagai pahlawan bagi bangsanya.

Meski hanya berbekal tongkat penghalau lembu (tongkat yang terbuat dari kayu panjangnya kira-kira 8 kaki (2,4 meter), dilengkapi paku-paku besi runcing di ujungnya, biasanya berfungsi menggiring lembu pada waktu membajak tanah) Samgar mampu menewaskan 600 tentara Filistin. Tongkat penghalau lembu adalah tongkat biasa, tapi jika Tuhan turut campur tangan, "Adakah sesuatu apapun yang mustahil untuk TUHAN?" (Kejadian 18:14a).Mungkin di mata manusia kita ini bukanlah siapa-siapa, tapi jika Tuhan ada di pihak kita, siapakah lawan kita?

"Tetapi...apa yang lemah bagi dunia, dipilih Allah untuk memalukan apa yang kuat," (1 Korintus 1:27)
