Tidak Ada yang Kebetulan


1 Samuel 9:1-10:16

Hidup itu misteri, tidak mudah ditebak. Namun satu hal yang pasti, Allah berkuasa memerintah dan menata segala sesuatu. Tidak ada kebetulan dalam hidup ini karena Allah bekerja dalam segala sesuatu.

Kisah Saul yang diurapi oleh Samuel memberitahukan bahwa hidup ini tidak kebetulan. Kish, ayah Saul, kehilangan keledai-keledai betinanya. Ia kemudian menyuruh Saul mengajak seorang bujangnya untuk mencari keledai-keledai tersebut. Di tengah jalan, si bujang mempunyai ide untuk menanyakan kehilangan mereka itu kepada Samuel. Akhirnya, mereka bertemu dengan Samuel, lalu Samuel mengurapi Saul menjadi raja.

Sebelum mengurapi Saul, Samuel menceritakan petunjuk Allah tentang siapa yang harus ia urapi. Ayat 15-18 jelas menunjukkan bahwa peristiwa kehilangan keledai dan perintah Kish kepada Saul untuk mencari keledainya bukanlah hal yang kebetulan. Allah bekerja dalam segala sesuatu untuk menggenapi rencana-Nya. Dan rencana Allah pasti mendatangkan kebaikan bagi umat-Nya.

Memang, rencana Allah dapat tampak seolah kebetulan. Untuk menyadari dan mengetahui semua itu, dibutuhkan relasi yang dekat dengan-Nya dan kepekaan. Samuel selalu hidup dekat dengan Allah. Ia mempunyai kepekaan dan hikmat dalam mendengarkan suara-Nya. Sedari muda, Samuel sudah melatih telinganya untuk peka terhadap firman Allah. Allah senantiasa memberi petunjuk kepadanya.

Di tengah zaman yang penuh hiruk pikuk dan tantangan ini, kita diajak untuk peka terhadap apa yang terjadi. Allah ingin kita senantiasa berdialog dengan-Nya dan merenungkan: "Apa kehendak Allah atas segala peristiwa yang sedang dihadapi." Satu hal yang pasti, dalam segala keadaan, Allah hendak mendatangkan kebaikan bagi setiap orang yang mengasihi-Nya. Ia ingin menyatakan kasih-Nya bagi kita semua, baik melalui peristiwa yang baik maupun yang tampaknya menyakitkan.

Doa: Tuhan, tolonglah kami untuk mengetahui kehendak-Mu melalui segala sesuatu yang terjadi. [MH]
