Renungan Tidak Lagi Murni Seperti Emas

Baca: 1 Raja-Raja 14:21-31

"Sebagai gantinya raja Rehabeam membuat perisai-perisai tembaga, yang dipercayakannya kepada pemimpin-pemimpin bentara yang menjaga pintu istana raja." (1 Raja-Raja 14:27)

Terlepas dari kesalahan yang dilakukan di akhir hidupnya, Salomo adalah raja Israel yang diberkati Tuhan secara melimpah; kekayaannya tak tertandingi oleh bangsa mana pun. "Raja Salomo melebihi semua raja di bumi dalam hal kekayaan dan hikmat." (1 Raja-Raja 10:23). Istananya megah, bahkan semua perabotan perbendaharaan rumah Tuhan pun terbuat dari emas. Itulah sebabnya ia menjadi buah bibir di antara bangsa-bangsa.

Alkitab mencatat bahwa Salomo memerintah atas Israel 40 tahun lamanya. Setelah Salomo mati, tampuk kepemimpinan dilanjutkan oleh anaknya yaitu Rehabeam. Sayangnya ia tidak dapat mempertahankan apa yang telah dirintis oleh ayahnya. Rehabeam justru melakukan banyak pelanggaran yang menyebabkan bangsa Israel berdosa kepada Tuhan: "...orang Yehuda melakukan apa yang jahat di mata Tuhan dan mereka menimbulkan cemburuNya dengan dosa yang diperbuat mereka, lebih dari pada segala yang dilakukan nenek moyang mereka." (1 Raja-Raja 14:22). Bahkan semua perabotan rumah Tuhan yang terbuat dari emas tak dapat mereka jaga dan pertahankan, semuanya dirampas oleh musuh, yaitu Sisak raja Mesir. Tetapi Rehabeam tidak kehabisan akal, dia mengganti semua perabotan emas itu dengan tembaga. Kualitas yang sangat rendah bila dibandingkan dengan emas!

Saat ini banyak orang Kristen yang tidak lagi memiliki kualitas 'emas' di hadapan Tuhan., tetapi hanya 'tembaga': menjalani kehidupan rohaninya asal-asalan, asal berdoa, asal baca Alkitab, asal ke gereja. Kita tidak lagi hidup dalam kekudusan dan dengan mudahnya berkompromi dengan dosa. Firman Tuhan tegas berkata, "...hendaklah kamu menjadi kudus di dalam seluruh hidupmu sama seperti Dia yang kudus, yang telah memanggil kamu," (1 Petrus 1:15). Jadi, kekudusan adalah syarat mutlak! "...sebab tanpa kekudusan tidak seorangpun akan melihat Tuhan." (Ibrani 12:14b). Kita juga menjalankan ibadah dan pelayanan tak lebih dari sekedar kegiatan rutin atau kebiasaan semata. Namun pada saatnya pekerjaan kita akan diuji!

Maka, lakukanlah yang terbaik untuk Tuhan!
